Grain Processing (GP) is an industrial process where enzymes are used to convert starch. Grain processing consists of two parts: starch conversion to sweet syrups (glucose, maltose, fructose, etc.) and starch conversion to bioethanol. The EMEA GP Applications group supports the business by helping to solve customer questions and requests related to the use of our enzyme products. The Application team also works on new product development based on customer needs.

We are growing and looking for an Application Technologist to join our EMEA Grain Processing Applications group in Leiden , as part the IFF Health & Biosciences division.

The work in the Applications group is diverse and directly related to the production processes of our different customers. In the lab we simulate the actual processes of our customers where our enzyme products are used. In addition, modeling processes has become an increasingly important part of the way we help our customers improve their processes. From time-to-time interaction will take place with customer through customer visits, product introduction and plant trial support. Internally the interaction with the Sales, Technical Service and Marketing group of Grain Processing is an important aspect of the role.


YOUR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exercise technical discretion in design, execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies and answering customer questions.
  • Contribute to Applications research / development as part of a project team.
  • Investigate, create, and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement or capability enhancement.
  • Act as project manager in medium size Applications research / development projects
  • Generate quality data and ideas for investigation and can clearly communicate these to the project team.
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, and protocols.
  • Assist in modeling of customer processes.
  • Be involved in Plant trial support.
  • Interact directly with both internal and external stakeholders related to projects.

Job Requirements

  • You have a Master's degree (MSc) or Bachelor's degree (BSc with some work experience) in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology or a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • You are skilled in a variety of analytical laboratory methods.
  • We will rely on your knowledge of basic biochemistry.
  • Your knowledge of modeling is a preferred.
  • You have an excellent level of English, both written and verbal.

    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Hands-on, eager to learn.
    • Result Oriented.
